Dr. Andrew Bown
D.C.
Hello! My name is Dr. Andrew Bown. My journey into chiropractic happened by accident, literally! I have broken every bone in my left leg, had 4 reconstructive knee surgeries, and spent nearly 2 years in a wheelchair growing up. Years after recovery, my lower back really started to give me a lot of issues, so I went back to my ortho for a consult, and he told me I needed another surgery, or else I'd have to have multiple injections and pain meds forever. I told him absolutely not, there has to be a middle ground somewhere. Up until that point, I had devoted my life to becoming a surgeon all through grade school and undergrad. After my diagnosis, I realized that I didn't want to be that type of doctor who only pushed pills and surgery, so I had to do some soul searching on where my life was going.
While in college and for some time after graduation, I competed in bodybuilding for several years as a hobby. Well, at my last competition during this time of transition, one of the competitors at my show happened to be a chiropractor! I had only ever been told the bad things about the profession. He talked to me about a normal day in the office and all the things he does to help his patients. Well, he ended up being the reason why I found chiropractic, and it truly saved my life. My very first adjustment was life changing. At that moment, I knew that I was meant to be a chiropractor!
